We truly did wake up 4 hours after going to sleep. At 2:30am, we sleepily went through the now-familiar routine of packing up and getting back on the road. Our goal was to reach Sheridan before noon, so our breaks were just long enough to refuel. We had breakfast at 6:00, but that was after 3 fairly substantial snacks spread along the way.
We pedaled along in a kind of daze all morning, too exhausted to really talk or enjoy the ever more impressive views. We did stop for a few photos, because the mountains here are becoming absolutely incredible.
It’s been great to see horses and cows in such ideal pastures. And this morning we passed some particularly picturesque horses on a hill!
After 80 miles (including about 10 on gravel roads), we made it to our destination! My uncle Jamie’s friend Paul has a little cabin (or “bunkhouse”) that we’re spending the night in. We arrived, showered, and collapsed for a 4 hour nap, after which we started to realize how amazing this setting is!
Chris and Brendan are driving across the country on a similar route to us, and we discovered that they were also in Sheridan today! So we talked to our host, Paul, who gave us the green light to have them stay with us tonight. So there was a little gathering of class of 2016 Waldorfians in Sheridan, WY this evening!
We went out to eat at a Chinese restaurant, and had a great time swapping stories of random experiences from our recent journeys. And as a bonus, they put our bike water bottles in the dishwasher for us! All I’m going to say is that it had been too long since they’d been cleaned, and there had been lots of protein powder.
Oh That is so cool you guys hooked up!!!!

The only way this picture could be better is if Brendan were still wearing his cowboy outfit! 🙂
So glad you are all getting to catch up.
Also, your early biking sounds amazing, and those horses along the ridge are beautiful!!
