Yes, we totally opened, organized, and packed all the food on the sidewalk outside the post office. We probably got some confused looks, but I think we’ve stopped noticing.
Soon after leaving Alma with our newly full panniers, we crossed a bridge and entered Minnesota!
We’ve been totally enjoying the hills of this part of the country! Minnesota gave us some nicely graded hills today, and not too much wind! We did find ourselves hungry at many points in the day, but our panniers were full of wonderful food, so we just happily pulled over to eat.
Another unexpected thing we came across today was a motocross track. Aidan was just delighted, and even I enjoyed watching the bikes fly around the track and through the air!
Our main lunch today (there were two, as usual) was packaged Indian food that came in one of those simply magical boxes this morning. We ate that in a little salt shed on the top of a hill – enjoying the shade, the lack of biting bugs, and the welcoming atmosphere.
We’re about to eat dinner in the park we’ve set up camp at, and plan to do some more reading tonight. (Apparently Edward Abbey completely approved of bike travel! I was reading today about his ideas on how to improve National Parks, and swapping cars for bikes at the gate was one of them!)
