Day 4 – Marlow NH to Londonderry VERMONT!

The chickens were our alarm clock this morning, and we got up to a beautiful day. We had a delicious breakfast, Kroka Style, and left mid-morning after getting to hear about Hannah’s cross country bike trip!

Thank you Kroka friends for your hospitality!

To avoid biking during the hottest part of the day, we biked until about 11:30, then enjoyed a long siesta by a river until 4:00. Four otters and some beavers swam by during that time, also enjoying the river.

Re-energized from the cool water, we cranked out another 30 miles, bringing our day’s total up to 40. Possibly the highlight of today was the moment when, as we pedaled slowly and steadily up a hill, Grampy casually cruised by us on his bike. Thankfully, Aidan noticed that his bike had a small electric motor, so I didn’t feel so bad after that. Needless to say, it was an incredibly funny moment.

It was wonderful coming into Vermont, and we instantly felt happier. There were countless Bernie signs, and in our first mile of our home state, we got two friendly honks and waves from passing cars. And not long after that, Aidan bonded momentarily with a passing Subaru driver who drifted around a turn a ways ahead of us, and I’m sure they will forever remember each other.

We are camping in the town park of Londonderry Vermont now, and have already had some great conversations with people here!

I would like to know what Aidan’s momentary bonding with the Subaru driver was all about, and hooray for maple syrup and quick energy boosts! Thank you for this great collection of stories through pictures and words! xoxooxoxx Wendy/ MOM

Stay out of abandoned buses, too.
