Day 2 – Biddeford ME to Franklin NH

We woke up at 5:45, anxious to get started. After some eggs for breakfast, we were on the road. About an hour in, it was high time for second breakfast, so we pulled over at a post office and had granola with appetizing-looking (not) powdered milk. We chose not to take any photos of that.

Headed west! As our ride continued, we drank lots and lots of water, and stopped regularly for snacks.

There were some hills. We accomplished more than 3500 feet today, and thoroughly enjoyed our downhills. Not all the ups were done with a smile, but taking selfies between gasps certainly helped.

Aidan’s shift cable snapped this afternoon, but luckily, thanks to Roland from Earls bike shop, we were equipped with an extra one, which we managed to install!

And 5ish miles later, there was a bike shop where we got a new spare cable!

Likin Bikin went up in our books when we noticed that yes, they carry Slopeside Syrup’s Untapped.

Our Trangia camping stove is absolutely wonderful. Michael and Thomas recommended it when we were in Ecuador on our senior trip, and we really couldn’t be happier with it. We just enjoyed a delicious Grandma Nancy meal, which she dehydrated and vacuum sealed for us! Can’t beat beans and rice with carrot salad after 68 miles!
